My approach:

My approach to therapy is grounded in my many years of experience as a scientist, lawyer, mediator, and longtime student of human behavior as well as my own time in the client’s chair. As a young, ambitious professional, I sought therapy because it felt like there was something I was missing: was a career supposed to feel this unfulfilling? Why are family dynamics so tricky? I was looking for an expert who could provide a user’s manual for my mind, someone who could help me make sense of myself and unlock my potential while also helping me change unhealthy behaviors and heal emotional wounds I had sustained along the way. Equipped with both recent discoveries in neurobiology as well as time-tested therapeutic techniques, I now strive to be the sort of therapist I wanted, helping you find within you the answers you are seeking. As we journey together through therapy sessions, my goal is to bring you enhanced understanding of, compassion for, and acceptance of yourself in a way that allows you to solve the problems you face, reduce unwanted behaviors, and improve the ways you connect in relationships. With couples and families, I create a space that encourages shared vulnerability through improved communication strategies and a focus on listening to the messages our emotions are sharing with us.

Additional information:

Finding the “right” therapist for you and your situation can feel overwhelming. However, this is an important step toward supporting you, your child, and your family system in the therapeutic process. My hope is that you can learn more about me, as a human and as a therapist, to determine if we are the right fit.

  • I am a born and bred New Yorker, several generations deep. I was born in Brooklyn Heights but grew up on both the Upper East and Upper West Sides.
  • I attended Harvard College, where I studied physics and space science.
  • I have a law degree from Harvard Law School and am licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • I’m certified as a mediator.
  • I lived in Europe for two years and have visited 23 countries. Most recently, I have been discovering ancient Roman ruins and the storybook villages of Normandy, France.
  • I have been married to my college sweetheart for almost twenty years and have two children and a puppy. With all credit to SMU, nothing has prepared me more for the “journeying with” that I do as a therapist more than my job as a parent.
  • My nervous system is most regulated when I am sitting in a rocking chair with a beautiful view of nature, sipping a tea and nibbling a cookie, while reading a non-fiction book that helps me gain a better understanding of human nature.

My rate is $85 for a 50-minute session; $125 for a 80-minute session.. Click here to request an appointment.
