Sexual Addictions and Compulsions
Dallas Counseling for Sexual Addictions and Compulsions
Sexual behaviors come in many forms. When considering whether your behaviors are out of control, you should know that there is no single type of behavior or level of behavior that automatically classifies an individual as a sexual addict or sexually compulsive. Three basic things to consider when you define sexual addiction or compulsivity are:
- Do I have a sense that I have lost control over whether or not I engage in my specific sexual behaviors?
- Am I experiencing significant consequences because of my specific out-of-control sexual behavior?
- Do I feel like I am constantly focused or thinking about specific sexual behaviors, even when I try not to?
Sex Addiction Self-Assessment. This is a quick self-assessment for sex addiction. If you answer yes to one or two these questions we encourage you to make an appointment and talk about it with a professional counselor.
