Mental Health Awareness Month

While every month is important when it comes to mental health awareness, each May since 1949 in the U.S., we have called special attention to this very important topic through conversation, media exposure and special events. This May, we asked Insights’ therapists to give us their favorite online resources for anyone who might be struggling with mental health issues, know someone who is—or is simply looking for a more joyful way to live, love and parent. We hope you find these suggestions useful.

For Parents of Children and Adolescents:

  • Child Mind Institute – focusing on care, education and science

  • Turnbridge – mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs for young adults and adolescents

  • Raising Boys and Girls podcast

  • Project Parenthood podcast

  • Cope – providing support for the emotional challenges of becoming a parent

  • Parent Data – evidence-based pregnancy and parenting by Emily Oster

  • Raising Good Parents by Dr. Phil Boucher

  • Mental Illness Happy Hour – a (sometimes) comical mental health podcast
