Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which one or more therapists treat a small number of people together as a group. The group process is usually utilized as a mechanism of change by developing, exploring and examining interpersonal relationships within the group. The broader concept of group therapy can be taken to include any helping process that takes place in a group, including support groups, skills training groups (such as anger management, mindfulness, relaxation training or social skills training), and psycho-education groups.
This is a therapeutic group supporting women who:
- are going through a divorce
- have ended their relationship
- newly divorced
- coping with the aftermath of divorce
- contemplating divorce
Each week we will address common emotions and topics that women face during the process of divorce such as anger, grief, loss, confusion, fear, guilt, shame, loneliness, isolation, parenting issues, understanding the legal process, financial insecurity, managing change, letting go, finding meaning and creating happiness in new ways.
This is a welcoming, confidential group where women can come together to share experiences, motivation, encouragement, and support. The group is facilitated by Mary Sanger, Marriage and Family Therapist and Divorce Mediator. Cost: $300 monthly
