Dallas, Texas Therapist Specializing in Children, Teens, Play Therapy
I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescents who are dealing with a plethora of overwhelming feelings and emotions. This includes supporting their families during our time together, too. I treat young children with play therapy. Play is needed for all ages but is imperative for young children to be able to express themselves fully, especially in a therapeutic environment. For adolescents, I provide activity therapy to allow a chance for the minor to warm up and feel comfortable with me. Having their hands busy with an activity allows them to free their mouths and become more open. I offer parent consultation sessions which consist of support and resources for the parents to learn and grow with their child. Traditional talk therapy is the method primarily used when working with young adults and beyond, although I’m encouraged to be creative and meet the person where they are.
I am a counseling student in training at Southern Methodist University. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a psychology degree, I decided to pursue my licensure in professional counseling. I am working towards a Master’s degree in SMU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Currently I am under the supervision of Laura Pierce and the SMU staff.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, family, my boyfriend and our two dogs. I also like cooking, reading for fun and watching shows on Netflix.
My rate is $65 for a 50-minute session. Click here to request an appointment.
