Dallas Interventions and Texas Interventions
What can you do if a loved one or friend is abusing alcohol or drugs? What can you do if a loved one or friend has serious mental health problems? What can you do if you’ve tried everything you can think of doing, but your loved one or friend just doesn’t quit or doesn’t get better? Does it seem like your loved one’s problems are affecting the entire family? Maybe it’s time to consider an intervention.
What is an Intervention?
An intervention is a process by which one or more people attempt to motivate and sustain change in an individual when there is unhealthy or risky behavior. When a person goes to the doctor with an illness, the doctor intervenes on the illness by treating it with medication or other procedures. In the same way, the therapist intervenes on unhealthy or risky behavior, such as alcoholism, drug abuse, depression, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, process addictions, self-harm, and other mental health problems. These conditions affect not just an individual; they affect an entire network — family, friends and business associates.
